Things you need to know:
- The Sacré-Coeur is a spectacular white Roman Catholic church on the top of Montmartre hill
- It stands on the highest point in Paris
- Its full name is the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Paris
- The basilica was built 1876-1919 as a memorial to the French soldiers who died in the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71)
- The construction was fincanced entirely from donations
- It offers breathtaking views both from its front steps and its dome
