Things you need to know:
- Notre Dame is part of UNESCO World Heritage sites
- Its towers are 69 m high, have 397 steps and offer splendid panoramic views of Paris
- Visitors can climb the South tower
- The cathedral's bell, Emmanuel Bell, weighs 13 tonnes and is housed in the South tower
What to do there:
- The stairs leading to the towers can be accessed from outside of the cathedral and are to the left of the main entrance
- Climb the stairs paying attention to the famous gargoyles
- Enjoy the sweeping panorama of the city from the top
Tips & Insights:
- Be prepared for queues because only 20-30 people can climb the tower at a time
- Please note that there are about 300 very narrow and slick steps leading to the top. Thus the climb requires some level of fitness
