Things you need to know:
- Musée de l'Armée (Army Musuem) contains one of the largest collections of military objects in the world
- The weaponry rangs from prehistoric times to the end of World War II
- The Oriental gallery features some of Napoleon's objects (saddle for the Coronation, his sword, etc)
- Napoleon's remains were brought here from St Helena in 1840, some 19 years after he died
- He lies in a sarcophagus that contains six coffins of soft iron, mahogany, lead (2), ebony, and oak
- The heavy bronze door of Napoleon's crypt was forged from cannons taken at the battle of Austerlitz
- He is dressed in his Colonel's uniform which bears his sash of the Légion d'Honneur. His hat rests on his legs
What to do there:
- Walk to the south side of the Hotel des Invalides (next to the Dome Church) to reach the ticket office
- Enter the Dome Church and make sure to collect your free audioguide
- Visit Napoleon's Tomb in the spectacular Dome Church
- Continue your visit in the Army Museum
