- Bloemenmarkt is a flower market in central Amsterdam that floats on water
- The stalls are set up on a row of barges along canal Singel
- As the barges are permanently fixed no rocking or movement is sensible any more
- Originally flower farmers sailed up the Amstel river from their nurseries to this spot and sold their flowers from their boats
- The place is a delight with its color explosion especially on a rainy day
